About the Role
We are looking for people who genuinely care — not just candidates who meet a checklist. As a Direct Support Professional at Spectrum Support Services, you'll work one-on-one with individuals with developmental disabilities in Bergen County and northern New Jersey, helping them build independence, confidence, and real connections in their communities.
This is meaningful, hands-on work in a supportive team environment. You'll be part of a NJ DDD approved organization that takes its mission seriously — and takes care of the people who make that mission possible.
What you'll be doing:
Providing personalized support and training to individuals with developmental disabilities in a community and home-based setting
Helping individuals build daily living skills, social connections, and greater independence
Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including BCBAs, case managers, and therapeutic staff
Documenting progress and maintaining accurate records in compliance with NJ DDD requirements
Participating in team meetings and ongoing training
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old.
Experience or education in Human Services, developmental disabilities, or a related field is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to working with individuals with unique needs. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Experience working with individuals with autism or behavioral challenges is a plus.
Current First Aid and CPR certification (required).
Must pass drug testing and fingerprinting requirements.
